About KH Mushrooms
Who is KH Mushrooms?
We're Rochelle and Dan, partners in life and business. What started as a shared curiosity in 2022 grew through hiking, cooking and research into a small family mushroom farm. Dan focuses on growing, and Rochelle brings our mushrooms to the community.
What does KH stand for?
KH stands for Kanoos Hause, a family name rooted in the feeling of home. "Kanoos" comes from our last name, Knoester, pronounced "canoe-stir".
What mushrooms do you grow?
We grow gourmet mushrooms such as oyster, shiitake and lion's mane in a carefully controlled, home-based grow, tended from culture to harvest. We also offer seasonal foraged mushrooms and a few pantry items like dried seasonings and tinctures when we have them.
How can I buy your mushrooms?
Visit our farmers market stands, preorder online for market pickup, order home delivery when it's open in your area, or apply for a wholesale account if you're a restaurant or store. Everything starts from the Shop page.
Ordering
What's the difference between market pickup and home delivery?
Market pickup lets you order ahead and collect your mushrooms at one of our farmers market stands. Home delivery brings your order to your door on the next open delivery day in your area. Both start from the Shop page.
Do I need an account to order?
No. You check out with your name and email, and we send your confirmation and any pickup passes to that email.
How are mushrooms sold?
Fresh mushrooms are sold by weight in quarter-pound steps, so you can order 1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, 3/4 lb, 1 lb and up. Some items, like seasonings and tinctures, are sold by the unit. Each product shows which.
Why is a mushroom missing or sold out this week?
We only list what we actually harvested. What's available changes week to week with the grow and the foraging season, so check back if your favorite isn't listed.
What's the difference between cultivated and foraged mushrooms?
Cultivated mushrooms are grown on our farm. Foraged mushrooms are wild and seasonal, so they're limited and come and go quickly. Foraged mushrooms should always be cooked before eating.
Market pickup
How does market pickup work?
Choose a market and pickup date, add your mushrooms and pay online. We email you a pickup pass with a QR code. Show it at our stand during the pickup window and we'll hand you your order.
Which markets are you at?
You can find us at the Modesto Certified Farmers' Market on Saturdays from 8am to 1pm, year round, and the Japantown Farmers' Market in San Jose on Sundays from 8am to 12pm. The pickup page lists the markets and dates open for orders right now.
I can't find my pickup pass. What do I do?
Go to the Pickup Passes page and enter the email you used at checkout. We'll resend links to any active passes for that email.
What if I miss my pickup window?
Email us at info@khmushrooms.com as soon as you can. Depending on the situation we may refund, replace or hold your order, or offer delivery for a fee. Fresh mushrooms may not be available after the window closes.
Can I change my market or my order?
Email us before the order cutoff and we'll do our best to help. Changes after the cutoff may not be possible because harvest and packing are already underway.
Home delivery
Where do you deliver?
We deliver to the counties listed when you choose your county at the top of the delivery shop. If your county isn't listed, market pickup is the best way to get our mushrooms for now.
When can I order delivery?
We publish the delivery menu each week once we know what the harvest looks like. Each delivery day shows its order cutoff in Pacific time. If the shop says the menu is coming soon, check back in a day or two.
How much is delivery?
Delivery is a small flat fee for your county, shown when you choose it in the shop. It's free when your order is $50 or more.
How will I know when my order is coming?
We email a confirmation as soon as you pay. If you tick the box for text updates at checkout, we also text you on delivery day when your order is on its way and when it's at your door.
Why won't my delivery address go through?
We check that each delivery address is real and in the county you picked. If it's a brand-new street we can't find yet, tick "This address is right" to continue. If the address is in a different county, choose that county instead, or use market pickup if we don't deliver there yet.
What if you cancel a delivery day?
If we ever have to cancel a delivery day, we refund your order in full, including the delivery fee, and let you know by email (and by text if you opted in).
Do I need to be home for delivery?
No. We leave your order at your door, so please bring it inside and refrigerate it as soon as you can.
Payments, changes and refunds
How do I pay?
You pay by card at checkout. Payments are handled securely by Stripe.
Can I cancel my order?
Email info@khmushrooms.com before the order cutoff. If we can cancel it, we refund you in full, including any delivery fee. After the cutoff we may not be able to cancel, since your mushrooms may already be harvested and packed.
Will you text me?
Only if you tick the box for text updates when you order or sign up. It's optional and you can still order without it. We text about your pickup, delivery or account, and you can reply STOP anytime to opt out.
What if something I ordered runs out?
If an item becomes unavailable after you order, we refund that item. We never substitute a different product unless you agree to it.
What if there's a problem with my mushrooms?
Contact us within 5 days of pickup or delivery with your name, order details and a short description. We'll offer a refund or replacement where it makes sense.
Can I return dried seasonings or tinctures?
Dried seasonings, tinctures and extracts are final sale once opened. If there's an issue with an unopened one, email us and we'll help.
Storage and safety
How should I store fresh mushrooms?
Refrigerate them as soon as you get home and use them within 5 days.
Where can I find allergen and supplement information?
See our Food Safety & Allergens notice and our Supplement Disclaimer, both linked in the footer of every page.
Wholesale
Do you sell to restaurants and stores?
Yes. Apply on our Wholesale page. Approved accounts get a portal with our price sheet, online ordering, standing weekly orders and invoices. The minimum wholesale order is 3 lb of fresh mushrooms.

Harvest Share
What is the Harvest Share?
A pound of fresh mushrooms on your schedule: monthly, every other week or weekly. You choose what goes in your share from the weekly menu, and members see the menu a day before everyone else. Current prices for each plan are on the Harvest Share page.
Can I pick up my share or have it delivered?
Either. Pick it up free at one of our farmers markets with a QR pass we email before each market day, or have it delivered for your county's delivery fee.
What goes in my share?
A mixed pound of whatever's freshest that week from our cultivated mushrooms. Mark the ones you love and they go in first when they're fresh, and mark up to two you never want so they stay out. If we're short on what you like, we either pack the best of what's fresh or skip that box and refund you, whichever you choose. Foraged mushrooms and pantry items aren't part of a share, but you can add them as a separate order.
What do weekly members get?
Weekly members get 10% off their share and 10% off foraged and pantry add-ons. If you skip more than 2 of any 8 weeks, the weekly share is billed at the regular price until you've had 4 weekly deliveries in a row.
Can I skip, pause, change or cancel my share?
Yes, all from your Harvest Share page. Skip any share up to 5 days before, pause for 2, 4 or 8 weeks, switch plans from your next billing date, change your address or market, or cancel.
What happens when my market closes for the season?
Your pickup share pauses and we email you. You can switch to delivery, move to another market, or stay paused until it reopens.
